During an explosive interview with Piers Morgan in November, Ronaldo’s contract at Manchester United was terminated.

Ronaldo engaged in a no-holds-barred interview with TalkTV journalist Morgan in November, which sparked a significant uproar ahead of the World Cup.

During the interview, Ronaldo criticized a number of key figures at Man United, including current manager Erik ten Hag, prior manager Ralf Rangnick, owners The Glazers and club legends Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville.

He was extremely critical of the way Man Utd was being operated and accused Ten Hag and others of betraying him and attempting to drive him out of the club.

In the world of football, the consequences of this interview were catastrophic.

“I have no problem saying it, I had a bad phase in my career, but there is no time for regrets. Life goes on,” Ronaldo told O Jogo.

“When we are at the top of the mountain, we often can’t see what’s below. Now I’m a better man.

“I understood who were real friends in that difficult moment.

As Man Utd terminated Ronaldo’s contract prior to the start of the World Cup, no major clubs in Europe were interested in signing him.

In the end, the 38-year-old signed with Saudi club Al-Nassr in January, effectively ending his professional club career.

Prior to the start of Euro 2024 qualification, he is currently serving with Portugal on international service.
