After completing high school, Martha began hustling and managed to establish a successful hotel for her mother. She then met her husband, a matatu driver, and they got married, but the marriage didn’t last long.
Martha recounts that her husband was very violent, and whenever she reported him to her mother, she would defend him, unaware of the affair between them.
Martha eventually left and started living on her own. One day, she received a call from her mother, claiming her ex-husband was attacking her. When Martha arrived, she found her ex-husband in the house with her mother, and he questioned Martha’s right to intervene in their marital dispute.
Her mother later apologized and promised to end the affair. However, when Martha decided to surprise her mother with a visit, she was shocked to find them together on the couch, enjoying themselves. Heartbroken, Martha left in tears, and her relationship with her mother has never been the same since.
