Speaking in Homa Bay County on Thursday August 29, Mbadi explained to Ruto that he will advise him(the president) on how to use public funds well whenever necessary.

He revealed that his boss Ruto had, in return, agreed to heed the advice but, at the same time, to have his way if possible as long as the funds are used for the benefit of the entire country.

“You have told me Mbadi work and streamline the Treasury. I will give you my advise and you have guaranteed me that you will respect it as well. That does not mean you will take everything I say. Mine is to advise and it is upon you to choose which one is best,” Mbadi shared the details.

The former ODM Party chairman brushed off those claiming that President Ruto handed over the Treasury docket at a time the ministry was dry and the economy doing badly.

Instead, Mr. Mbadi responded to the public saying he is prepared to handle the situation as it is so that to breathe life again into the economy.

“People saying that you have named me to this docket when things difficult but I want to respond to them saying if the job is too easy, then give it to anybody. But if you are looking for quality service, it means the job is difficult and requires a competent person,” he argued.

Narrating how he started eying this position two decades ago, CS Mbadi disclosed that first time was in 2013 but he never got it, second time was in 2017 and, though some issues arose withinAzimio, this would have seen him bag a different cabinet position in Raila administration could ODm have won power.

“In my life, I started eying to be the Finance CS in 2013 and thought Raila was going to name me, 2017 I had a similar dream to be the cabinet secretary for Finance but still things turned out different for us.

“Mr. President, I want to disclose here that in 2022, your excellency, I never expected that the person who was going to name me would be William Samoei Ruto,” added Mbadi.

The new Treasury boss, therefore, assured the country that he was upto the task and that in one-year time, they will see a remarkable progress.
