Despite the disappointment of exiting the 2022 World Cup to minnows Morocco, which ultimately resulted in the dismissal of previous Portugal manager Fernando Santos, Ronaldo retains his position as the team’s captain despite calls from many for him to call time on his International career.

However, several Portuguese players have come together in preparation for their upcoming games against Liechtenstein and Luxembourg on March 23 and 26, respectively.

Taking to his verified Instagram handle, Ronaldo revealed that he’s elated to be able to represent his country once more. In his words he said, “Very happy to return to our national team and be able to represent Portugal again”

Since moving to Saudi Arabia, the five time Ballon d’or winner has found the back of the net nine times for Al Nassr. His strikes included two hat-tricks and a first free kick goal in almost a year. He would be hoping to play in some capacity for Portugal and add his experience to the squad once more.
