According to sources, the grandmother, who lives in the same home as his son, regularly lights things on fire and complains that they have been depriving her of food.

Three of the family members, including her son Victor, wife Racheal, and one of the grandchildren, were allegedly killed in the house fire while they slept while the other child is in critical condition at the Federal Medical Centre FMC, Owo.

In Akure, an eyewitness named Korede Michael described the tragic event to news crews, saying, “We saw the house on fire around 2:00 am on the weekend and had to break the window to rescue everyone in the house.

“The woman set the home on fire while her son Victor Oloro, wife Rachael, and children Toluwani and Blessing were all present.

She spread some dry palm fronds and the small amount of gasoline her son had stored in a gallon (for a generator) throughout the home before setting it on fire.

“Before other community members joined me in saving them, I was the first to spot the fire and jumped into the house.

“We quickly dispatched a vehicle to transport them to hospital.
