In his interview with Wahiga Mwaura onCitizen Tvat 7PM news, the DP revealed that his loyalists who attend the said meetings always report back to him and that they invoke the name of the head of State as the convener.
He, however, said, he cannot authoritatively accuse his boss because he has not personally been seen presiding over the gatherings mostly held in hotels and in a certain Cabinet Secretary’s home.
Political Statements
And commenting on political outbursts among members of the ruling Party, Gachagua toldCitizen Tv’sviewers that only Ruto has the powers to stop errant politicians from attacking each other in public.
Asked whether he has ever requested the head of State to control his juniors, DP Gachagua’s response indicated that he has done it several times but Ruto was yet to act.
“I have asked the president to put his house in order.
“It’s very unhealthy to see what is happening continue and this is not right and should come to an end,” Gachagua stated further.
On his relationship with President William Ruto, the second in command said they share a warm working relationship despite the destruction and that his career is not on line as some people would want to put it.
“My relationship is good and my career is not on line,” he added asking President Ruto to come back to his senses and control the situation before it gets out of hand.
Buck Stops With the President
The DP noted that, because the president is the one who makes all major decisions, when he(Ruto) tells MPs to stop attacking each other and the DP as well, this culture will immediately stop and the activities in government will resume nomalcy.
“President Ruto denied about plans to impeach me. He said if it takes place it can distabilise the country and, as a truthful man, I believed in what he said but I can again see the matter has come up. It is upon him. If it happens so be it”.
