Fifa World Cup: Japanese Fans Continue Post-match Clean Up Tradition After Win Against Germany

Japanese football fans stole hearts all over social media for the second time when they maintained their post-match cleaning custom following Japan’s 2-1 triumph against Germany.

After the match on Wednesday, spectators from the island nation can be seen clearing up debris and leaving seats immaculate in a viral video posted by Fifa.

The film was first posted by Qatari video artist Omar Al Farooq on the day of host Qatar’s debut match against Ecuador, and it shows him in awe of the East Asian fans’ humility and discipline.

‘It’s not even their match!’ Farooq exclaimed.

When the video creator asked why they were cleaning up, one of them responded: “Japanese never leave rubbish behind.”

“We respect the place,” she added.

“We are not doing it for cameras,” another fan, dressed in the Qatar jersey, said.

“They said they weren’t doing it for the cameras, but I’m glad the cameras still spotted them. The values they’re displaying are worthy of a global audience,” he wrote on Twitter.
