The last time Chelsea played in the Club World Cup was in 2012. That year, they also played a Brazilian team in the final but lost by a lone goal, taking the silver medal.
So this time around, they will be looking to better the results of 2012 by winning the gold medal.
On paper, Chelsea are the favourites to win just like they were in 2012. But football is not played on paper any longer. Palmeiras will definitely give Chelsea a run for their money.
Who says Chelsea might not end up with another silver medal? You never can tell, these things happen.
Well, even if they eventually win gold or not, there are still other awards up for grabs.
1. FIFA Fair Play Award – Given to the team with the best record of fair play.
2. Golden Boot Award – For the best player of the tournament
3. Man of the Match Award – For the outstanding player in the final match.
Do you see Chelsea or any Chelsea player picking up any of these awards?
