Maurice was detained four days earlier while visiting his friend, Rajab Muhammed, at the station. The group waited for an explanation from the station’s commanding officer, but no information was provided about Maurice’s whereabouts.

Maurice’s father, Evans Wafula, expressed frustration, noting that they had been told varying reasons for his son’s arrest, including participation in demonstrations. Despite being scheduled for a court appearance on Monday, Maurice did not appear, and the family’s attempts to contact the police were unsuccessful.

Maurice’s mother, Felistar Ndinda, said the police initially informed them that Maurice had been transferred to Isinya. However, upon their arrival, Maurice was not there. They later learned he was moved to Mashuuru and eventually to Ilasit Police Station, over 200 kilometers from Kitengela Town. Felistar demanded that Maurice be brought to court if he committed any crime, emphasizing their desperation to locate him.
