LIVERPOOL GET STARTED ON JUDE BELLINGHAM SIGNING

After months of rumours linking Liverpool with a move for Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, the Reds have got the ball rolling by reportedly submitting a big-money offer for the midfielder.

Bellingham has long been viewed as the perfect signing to take Liverpool’s midfield to the next level.

Jurgen Klopp’s preferred midfield three, if they are all fit, is Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara. But with Henderson and Thiago both over the age of 30, Klopp could probably do with a new star arriving at Anfield – which is where Bellingham comes in.

The Birmingham City academy graduate has excelled since joining Dortmund in summer 2020. This season, he has made 10 appearances and chipped in with three goals.

Bellingham’s top displays in Germany have also seen him break into the England team. The 19-year-old started against Italy on Friday, and Joe Cole called him the only exciting player in a poor defeat for the Three Lions.

Bellingham is proving his class both in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League. He clearly has the ability to shine in the Premier League, should he move back to England.

Manchester United and Chelsea are supposedly keeping tabs on his situation, but it is Liverpool who are the prime English suitors for him.

And according to Spanish newspaper Marca (as cited by Paisley Gates), Liverpool have begun work on his potential signing by submitting a bid.

The report doesn’t reveal how much the offer is worth, or whether Dortmund have accepted it. But it will likely be a huge amount given Dortmund want £137m (€150m) for him.

Liverpool fans will be very happy about their club finally acting on their interest in the teenager and sending a proposal to BVB.

Marca also provide some insight into Bellingham’s transfer preference, and this is less than good news for Liverpool.

They claim Bellingham has considered all the offers available to him and has decided to reject Premier League suitors in favour of Real Madrid.

The player is attracted by the possibility of playing for arguably Europe’s biggest club right now. And he could form a brilliant midfield trio with the likes of Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga or Aurelien Tchouameni.

Liverpool made contact with Monaco over the signing of Tchouameni earlier this year. They ultimately lost out on him to Real, and it seems the same could happen with Bellingham if the Englishman gets his transfer wish.

Liverpool’s midfield signing options are shrinking, as previous target Gavi has already penned a new Barcelona contract with a €1billion release clause.

There are still a few options for Klopp and the Liverpool hierarchy, though. They include Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, Rennes ace Lovro Majer and Ismael Bennacer of AC Milan.

JUVENTUS EYE PAUL POGBA REPEAT

After signing Paul Pogba on a free from Man Utd, Juve want to repeat the transfer trick and complete a similar deal for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.

Borussia Dortmund hope to capture Naby Keita from Liverpool to bolster their midfield options, amid uncertainty over Bellingham’s future.

AC Milan chief Paolo Maldini is optimistic about Rafael Leao rejecting Chelsea and penning a new contract with the Rossoneri. However, Maldini admits no one is ‘unsellable’.

Harry Kane is now happy at Spurs and there is nothing in the rumours linking him with a Romelu Lukaku swap at Chelsea.

Rather than going after a striker, Chelsea’s priority in January will likely be to bring in a new winger.
