During an interview on Inooro TV, the lawmaker dismissed claims that he disagreed with the second in command over the war on illicit brew.

Wamumbi said that his troubles with Gachagua started after he declined to follow his plan to dump President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza outfit.

The MP alleged that they were in an hours-long meeting at the DP’s home on Saturday, May 25, where Gachagua made the proposal.

“I was the only person he met that day; we talked for hours, and I tried to tell him that his advisers were misleading him, just as they had misled another president,” Wamumbi stated.

However, the lawmaker claimed he rebuffed the DP’s proposal and reminded him that he was supposed to watch over Mt Kenya residents.

The MP allegedly told the second in command that he was a turncoat and was leading the region on the wrong path.

“I told him that he had told the Gikuyu people that he never slept and was always watching out for them, but he was now leading them down the wrong path.”

He further stated that the DP introduced him to Ruto before the 2022 General Election. The MP claimed that he pleaded with the DP to serve under Ruto and use the Cabinet positions to benefit the region.

“I begged him that we stay in government since we already have enough seats. We should work using what we have. He has helped me a lot in my life, but that does not mean I do not have opinions on our country’s leadership,” the lawmaker added.

Earlier, Wamumbi said his fallout with Gachagua goes beyond the closure of bars in Nyeri county. The first-term lawmaker dared the deputy president to state the main cause of their fallout.
