The most recent poll by Redfield & Wilton Strategies, conducted between August 12 and 15, showed that Trump’s lead in both Pennsylvania and Georgia has vanished since July.
In a previous poll by Redfield & Wilton Strategies, conducted between July 22 and 24, Trump was leading Harris by 4 points in Pennsylvania and 5 points in Georgia.
However, two polls conducted since then showed Trump’s lead narrowing in both states, with his lead decreasing to 2 points in Pennsylvania and Georgia, in a poll conducted between July 31 and August 3.
The latest poll showed the two candidates were tied on 46 percent each in Georgia, while Harris had overtaken Trump by 2 points in Pennsylvania, on 46 percent to his 44 percent.
Harris also overtook Trump in Wisconsin in the most recent poll, leading him by 4 points on 48 percent. The previous poll had shown they were tied in the state, on 43 percent each.
Meanwhile, in New Mexico and Minnesota, Harris remained ahead, leading her opponent by 6 and 7 points respectively.
But the polls did not look positive for Harris in all the swing states.
In Arizona, Trump overtook Harris’ lead, with 44 percent to her 43 percent. The previous poll had shown Harris in the lead on 44 percent to his 43 percent. Meanwhile, in Nevada, Trump overtook Harris, leading her by one point on 43 percent after they were tied on 40 percent each in the last poll.
In the other three swing states, Trump maintained his lead, with his best performance being in Florida, where he had a 5-point lead over Harris, on 48 percent to her 43 percent. However, his lead had decreased since the last two polls when he was leading his opponent by 6 and 8 points.
His margins have stayed the same in Michigan (1 percent) and North Carolina (3 percent).
The survey had a margin of error of between 2 and 4 percent across each state.
Newsweekhas contacted the Trump and Harris campaigns for comment via email.
Since launching her campaign in July, Harris has been marginally ahead of Trump in national polls, with every poll aggregator showing she is in the lead.
However, in the battleground states, the polls are more volatile, with Harris leading in some and Trump leading in others.
According to Five ThirtyEight’s poll tracker, Harris is in the lead in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada and New Mexico, while Trump leads in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.
Meanwhile, across all the swing states, Harris has reduced Trump’s margins compared to June, when Biden was still in the race.
In the 2020 Presidential Election, Joe Biden carried Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, while Donald Trump defeated Biden in Florida and North Carolina.
