Donald Trump should replace Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate if he wants to win the 2024 election, a former member of the Republican’s White House team has said.....CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

Anthony Scaramucci, who lasted 10 days as Trump’s White House communications director before being fired in July 2017, made the claim in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday.

“Trump has to replace Vance to get back in the race,” wrote Scaramucci, who is now a frequent and vocal critic of the former president.

Vance has faced continued criticism since he accepted the role of Trump’s running mate, after his previous comments about women, abortion and those without children quickly resurfaced. He also has historically low approval ratings for a vice presidential nominee.

There have also been suggestions that Vance does not broaden the appeal of the GOP’s 2024 ticket and may damage Trump’s chances of winning November’s race.

Trump and his team have frequently denied suggestions that the former president regrets choosing Vance as his running mate, saying he is “thrilled” with his pick.

On July 31, Trump again dismissed suggestions that Vance was a bad choice, telling the National Association of Black Journalists that vice presidential picks have “virtually no impact” on elections.

Newsweekhas contacted Trump and Vance’s campaign team for comment via email.

Christopher Devine, an associate professor of political science at the University of Dayton and author ofDo Running Mates Matter?: The Influence of Vice Presidential Candidates in Presidential Elections, previously toldNewsweekthat it would be a mistake for Trump to replace Vance as his vice presidential choice.

“If Donald Trump—having had months to vet candidates and make this choice—abandons JD Vance, voters will question his ability to lead as president,” Devine said.

“It’s better to stick with a running mate who is underperforming than to tell voters that you can’t be trusted to make a presidential decision and stick with it,” he continued.

Scaramucci previously suggested that Trump may drop out of the 2024 race entirely to avoid being defeated by Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, which more polls have suggested could happen.

“Don’t be surprised if Donald Trump drops out of the race,” Scaramucci posted on X.

In a follow-up post, he added: “Trump may leave the race. Just watch his poll numbers plummet and see what happens.”

In response, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign toldNewsweek, “We’re not going to listen to someone who barely lasted more time than an expired ham sandwich as White House communications director...CONTINUE READING>>
