Diego Costa has responded to Eden Hazard’s old Chelsea remark and has explained Premier League return decision for Wolves ahead of his second debut against Man City.

The 33-year-old was signed on a short-term deal to compensate for the huge loss the Molineux clubs suffered with their big summer addition Sasa Kalajdzic, who injured his ACL in the 1-0 Southampton win.

The Austrian striker has undergone surgery on his knee and is already on a long journey to recovery. There has been no timeframe on his full recovery but the emergency signing of the twice Premier League winner suggests that the tall number 9 will not be back in contention for quite a while.

This, therefore, gives the former Spain International a chance to make his second bout in the English top flight, having racked up a total of 82 goal contributions in the colours of Chelsea spanning over 120 appearances.

As well as having a unique ability to win at the top level, as demonstrated by the three trophies won during his time in West London, Costa always had a personality which adhered him well to his teammates.

No more so than the likes of Eden Hazard, David Luiz, Oscar and Willian who have labelled Wolves’ new talismanic figure as the ‘king of jokers,’ It’s a remark that the player in question himself agrees with.

“Yes, I’m rustic,” he confirmed to Wolves TV. “No, but truthfully a lot of people do say that my performance on the pitch gives off that impression.

“On the pitch, I always have an angry face on, rustic so to speak, that’s the term I use with these guys [former Chelsea teammates]. I think it’s part of our day-to-day lives.

“We are with our teammates more than our families and if we don’t have a good working environment, if you can’t have fun with them, even more when you spend that much time far away [from home] so I would rather fool around a bit, joke and even.

here where I don’t know how to speak English as well- well, you have Portuguese and Spanish people but it’s a way of interacting with everyone.

“In my own way, even mimicking if needs be but I’ll make myself understood.”

By his own admission, barring the weather, the Premier League is the division where the Jose Mourinho favourite feels himself and other foreign players now view as the superior league in comparison to the likes of Ligue 1, La Liga and Serie A.

He added on why he wanted to return to England: “I always thought that the Premier League was the best out there, the best in the world.

I had the pleasure to play in it, return again and in my opinion, from experience, the Premier League has the atmosphere, the way the game is played, the stadium full of supporters, the pitch is in perfect conditions, the respect the players have for each other.

“It’s structure. Everything is organised, there is a lot of discipline, and I have experienced this first-hand some time ago.”
