Sevilla and Real Madrid are currently the only Spanish club still participating in European competition after Real Betis got dumped by premier league giants Manchester United.

However, this weekend’s games started with a tough, but entertaining game between newly promoted Almeria and Cadiz at the Power Horse Stadium.

Both sides settled for a draw after 1 hour and 30 minutes of battle. Rayo Vallecano hosted Girona at the Campo de Futbol Vallecas Stadium.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw after Palazon and Oscar Trejo scored for the home side while Tsygankov and nets a brace for the away team.

Celta Vigo made a long trip to Espanyol where they thrashed the home side 3-1 to boost their hope of qualifying for European competition next season.

Atletico Madrid on the other hand hosted Valencia at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, with goals from Griezmann, Carrasco, and Thomas Lemar on the scoresheet.
