However, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was conspicuously missing at Ruto’s event, despite Nyeri being his home county. The seat reserved for the deputy president remained unoccupied for hours before Nyeri Town MP Duncan Maina Mathenge took it.

After skipping Ruto’s function, the deputy president toured Kirinyaga county, where he attended celebrations of 100 Years of Faith and Evangelization at Our Lady of Sorrows, Baricho Catholic Parish. As a sign that all was not good in the government, Gachagua did not receive Ruto at the airport on his way from Germany.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah received the president. The latest development attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans.

John Mukewa:

“Sasa Man Riggy G amekosa kukaribisha Rais?”

Kagara Charles:

“Dp must be respected together with his constitution office he holds”

Karlmarx Arkarly:

“You’ve gone to see if your boys did your assignment correctly ”

The Dawn (Jossy..y Murage):

“Who advises Deputy President H.E Rigathi Gachagua? Jameni isn’t this shameful to him surely?. Hadi Kwao Nyumbani. Why is he accepting to take such misleading advice of keeping away such events? Are his advisers not messing up Mt Deputy President?”

Abuga Makori EGH, MBE:

“This is disrespectful and insubordination. DP Rigathi Gachagua should learn to arrive at functions earlier than his boss, William Ruto. You can’t do this and more so in Nyeri. Rigathi is going overboard. Even Ruto always respected Uhuru despite the sharp differences.”

Gabriel Oguda:

“Ruto is in a church service in Nyeri, home of his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, whose chair is still waiting for him to arrive three hours later. Kiburi FC, gather around.”

Meanwhile, the deputy president fired back at Mt Kenya MPs who recently threw their support behind Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki. The embattled second in command took a swipe at the leaders, calling them out for what he termed betrayal.

Speaking at the Central Kenya ASK show official opening in Kabiru-ini grounds, Nyeri, on Friday, September 13, Gachagua referred to the politicians as sell-outs.

The DP likened them to characters from an old Kikuyu tale about a hyena and a hare who agree to beat their wives. In the tale, the hare cleverly uses drums to avoid inflicting harm, leaving the hyena to do all the damage….CLICK HERE FOR MORE ARTICLE>>>
