Chelsea started the game well but lacked directness in their final third. As a result, they struggled to score before Sterling came to their rescue by scoring the opener in the first half.
Kai Havertz scored the second goal in the second half to seal the win for Chelsea. However, here are the three best players of the match:
1. Ben Chilwell
Chelsea’s two goals today may not have happened if not for Ben Chilwell as the defender played immensely today and had hands in the first and second goals which Potter will be happy about.
Chilwell was good both defensively and offensively and was an important player in the victory.
2. Raheem Sterling
The Three Lions winger was one of the best players on the pitch this evening as he terrorized Dortmund’s defence throughout the game. His hard work paid off when he scored the opener for Chelsea as he rifles the shot into the back of the net.
3. Kai Havertz
The striker performed brilliantly today by having a hand in the first and second goals. He was involved in the buildup to the first goal scored by sterling and scored the second goal from the spot after missing his first attempt.
Other players who performed well today are Kepa Arrizabalaga, Enzo Fernandez, and Mateo Kovacic.
