The report also mentioned that Mendy has lost his place as the Blues’ first-choice goalkeeper to Kepa Arrizabalaga, and as a result, he has been placed on the transfer list, awaiting offers from interested clubs.

Mendy, who joined Chelsea from French club Rennes in the summer of 2020, established himself as the club’s number one goalkeeper ahead of Kepa last season.

He played a key role in helping Chelsea secure a top-four finish and win the Champions League. However, this season has been a struggle for Mendy, who has conceded 12 goals in nine appearances and has only kept one clean sheet across all fronts.

Despite his recent form, losing Mendy would leave a significant void in Chelsea’s squad, as he has been a crucial player for the club over the past two seasons.

His shot-stopping ability, command of the penalty area, and calmness under pressure have made him one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

However, with Kepa performing well and providing tough competition for a regular position this season, it may be difficult for Mendy to accept a secondary role at Stamford Bridge.

Therefore, selling him this summer could be a wise choice for Chelsea, as they can recoup most of their investment in Mendy by asking for a decent transfer fee, especially as his contract expires in the summer of 2025.

Overall, while it may not be ideal for Chelsea to lose Mendy, his struggles this season and the emergence of Kepa mean that the club could benefit from his departure.
