The protest, which turned violent in some states and led to fatalities, prompted at least three Governors to declare curfews.

The mob attempted to break into Buhari’s residence, expressing their frustration with the country’s economic situation. Witnesses reported that the protesters set up a bonfire in front of the house and chanted loudly.

Video footage showed young people shouting “Bama yi! Bama yi! Bama yi!” – a Hausa phrase meaning “we don’t want,” commonly used in protests.

An unidentified person from Buhari’s residence addressed the protesters, asking them to select one representative to speak on camera, promising to show the video to the former President.
