Secretary general Hassan Omar warned Malalah against linking his ouster with the “unfounded, imaginary and purported impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.”

“We find it gross that he (Malalah) is now casting aspersions on the part of the party’s leadership, regrettably invoking the names of party chairperson Mbarire and in the purported impeachment,” Omar said in a statement.

Omar said Mbarire is not a Member of Parliament and thus cannot sponsor a motion of impeachment.

“As a party, we find his behaviour unbecoming and inappropriate for former SG Malala to drag her name and that of the Majority Leader in such an unfounded claim of the impeachment of the country’s Deputy President and must be asked to stop this rave,” he added.

Omar asked, “The authors and sponsors of the script perform their poems and plays in other theatres of political deceit and sympathy seeking.”

On Thursday, Malalah stated that Mbarire and Ichung’wah were behind plans to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

He alleged that the two officials wanted the Deputy President out so that they could strategically position themselves within the emerging political re-alignments.

Malalah also linked his ouster from the party to his ties with Gachagua.

“My ouster by the two officials had nothing to do with incompetence or my inability to run the UDA party, but was a well-choreographed script intended to climax with the impeachment of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua,” he claimed.

On Friday, Omar maintained that Malalah was legally and procedurally removed from office as the secretary general of UDA, and the same was acknowledged and ratified by the Registrar of Political Parties.

“The office subsequently effected the changes as required by law,” he noted.

He said Malalah’s ouster was a collective decision by the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), the same organ that had appointed him to hold the position in an “acting” capacity.
