In a statement, the former prime minister said their meeting centred on the foundational issues of security, which is essential in advancing a shared future.

The ODM leader thanked Tshisekedi for endorsing his AUC bid. “I met with DRC President Felix Tshisekedi today to discuss my AUC bid. Our conversation centered on the foundational issues of security, development, and climate change—essential for creating lasting prosperity and advancing our shared future. I thank him for his endorsement.”

As reported earlier, Fawzia Adam’s support enhanced Raila’s chances of being the next African Union Commission chairperson. The former Somali minister for Foreign Affairs had declared her bid in March but shelved it months later. She met Raila in Nairobi on Friday, August 9.
