The Head of State hosted the athletes at the Eldoret State Lodge where he handed out a total of Sh19.75 million in prize money.

He lauded them for flying the Kenyan flag high, adding that his administration will work to strengthen facilities for athlete wellness and improve the country’s performance in the future.

“I am looking forward to expanding the sports infrastructure, and I want to encourage not only the government but also the private sector,” he stated.

Kenya clinched 11 medals, becoming first in Africa among countries with the most Olympic medals and 17th globally. Below is a breakdown of how much each athlete will be taking home:

Beatrice Chebet won two gold medals : Sh13 million.

Faith Kipyegon won gold and silver: Sh11 million.

Emmanuel Wanyonyi won the gold medal: Sh8.5 million.

Ronald Kwemboi won the silver medal: Sh2 million.

Mary Moraa won the bronze medal : Sh1 million.

Faith Cherotich won the bronze medal: Sh1 million.

Abraham Kibiwot won the bronze medal: Sh1 million.

Hellen Obiri won the bronze medal: Sh1 million.
