This was the second day he was taking the morning walk in the new City.

As he snaked through the streets of the town, the DP interacted with residents he came across along the way.

He was in the company of his security detail and fitness instructor.

Pictures shared by the DP showed him waving to people and sharing a handshake with some enthusiastic residents who were mesmerised by his presence.

“It was exciting this morning interacting with the People of the newest City in Kenya as I undertook my healthy walk,” Gachagua said in a statement.

Gachagua acknowledged the excitement from residents describing them as hospitable and vibrant.

“Their zeal and hard work, are an indication that they are ready to build and propel this socio-economic powerhouse to the next level of prosperity,” he said.

Gachagua wished the residents well noting that they should raise the profile of the city.

“We wish them well as they affirm Eldoret as the City of Champions on the socio-economic and cultural front,” he said.

Eldoret is the fifth Kenyan city after Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa and Nakuru.

President William Ruto on Thursday led the conferment of Eldoret municipality to a city status.

The ceremony was filled with pomp and colour even as Ruto assigned a seal to the conferment charter.
