The archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), Jackson Ole Sapit on Friday called on President William Ruto to fulfil all the demands raised by the anti-government protesters.....CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

While addressing the press at the All Saints Cathedral In Nairobi, Sapit urged the Head of State to consider reducing government expenditure.

The bishop also called on President Ruto to come up with stringent measures to curb the rampant corruption being witnessed at the national and county levels.

President Ruto was also urged to reduce the size of his administration and prioritise delivering essential services to Kenyans.

Sapit issued a seven-day timeframe for the government to fulfil the above demands which he deemed significant in quelling the unrest witnessed in the country.

“In view of these matters, the government must in the next one week come up with an implementation matrix of these demands and make it available for public scrutiny,” Sapit stated.

The archbishop also condemned attacks meted against the media personnel who were covering anti-government demonstrations.

Sapit further called on the demonstrators to call off their protests and give the government adequate time to implement the demands raised by the protesters.

According to the bishop, the president had already fulfilled most of their demands including sacking all his cabinet secretaries.

He noted the recent demonstrations had been infiltrated by goons whose aim was to cause damage and interfere with daily activities.

Additionally, police officers were also told to stop assaulting peaceful protesters by pelting tear gas canisters and beating the demonstrators.

Sapit’s sentiments come hardly hours after theNational Integrity Alliance (NIA), which encompasses five non-governmental organizations called on Ruto to  order investigations into the atrocities committed against peaceful protesters during the recent demonstrations.

The lobby groups led by the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) also called on the president to consider appointing honest and uncorrupt leaders with no legal violations on record.
