Some elite superstars, including defending champions Eliud Kipchoge and Peres Jepchirchir, Kenenisa Bekele and Tigist Assefa, will be on the field.

Four-time Olympic gold medalist, Mo Farah, recently made his prediction in the men’s marathon, which will take place towards the end of the Games.

Kipchoge is seeking to become the first person to win three straight gold medals in the marathon, but it won’t be a walk in the park.

He will face the likes of Benson Kipruto, Alexander Munyao, Kenenisa Bekele, Deresa Geleta, and Tamirat Tola. Kipruto defeated Kipchoge at the Tokyo Marathon, setting the fastest (2:02:16) time this year, per World Athletics.

Kipchoge has shown signs of slowing down after a dominant run in the last decade. His last marathon win came in Berlin last year. However, he has suffered two defeats in his last three marathons.
