In his official update today Saturday September 7, Oduor said they had established a total of 19 burnt bodies which he will lead in conducting their autopsies.

“Today we have concluded the process of recovery of the bodies of those who were involved in this fire incident, we have managed to recover 19 bodies which we have placed in body bags,” Dr. Oduor narrated.

Though, the bodies are beyond recognition, he told the media and locals in Nyeri County that they managed to discover all the bodies and postmortems will start in earnest on Tuesday September 10.

“They are to be taken to Naromoru Hospital so that we can begin the postmortem process. Looking at the bodies, they were severely burnt, which means that it is very difficult to identify that this is the exact person”.

And addressing at the accident scene, Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura reported that two more victims had since succumbed at the hospital hence bringing the total of those who have died to 21.

He added that out of the 156 pupils in the ill-fated dormitory, a total of 139 had been accounted for and their parents made aware.

As per the instructions by President William Ruto, Mwaura announced that thorough investigations were ongoing to unearth what could have triggered the killer inferno at the Nyeri-based school.
