Right now, Arsenal have a few deals in the pipeline – Edu certainly isn’t going to be short of work for the foreseeable.
Mikel Merino is close to joining Arsenal, a fee has been agreed between the Gunners and Real Sociedad and the long transfer saga should imminently come to a close.

Plenty of players could be leaving north London too.

Eddie Nketiah is close to departing Arsenal, with Nottingham Forest progressing well in their attempts to agree a deal with the Gunners.

And it seems as if Aaron Ramsdale will also leave before the deadline, even if Edu may have to reluctantly accept a loan departure.

Of course, with Fabio Vieira also heading out on loan, it begs the question – will Arsenal add a forward before the window ends?

It’s now broadly thought that Arsenal will – Arteta has always been keen to add more firepower to his team this summer.

Among the Gunners’ targets this summer, Arsenal links to Viktor Gyokeres have simply refused to go away.

The 26-year-old Sweden international scored a ridiculous 43 goals in all competitions for Sporting CP last season, his debut campaign in Portugal.

Arsenal will have to pay Gyokeres’ release clause to sign him this month, which is believed to stand at around £86m.

But perhaps on the evidence of his scoring, that could still represent value for Arteta’s side, who are hoping to beat Manchester City to the title.

Perhaps Arsenal’s meeting with Aston Villa on Saturday will go a long way to dictating the mood in north London ahead of Deadline Day.

If Arsenal win emphatically then talk of buying a striker might ease among the fan base.

However, if Unai Emery’s side thwart Arsenal once again, with the away side either failing to score or wasting chances, there could be a lot of pressure on Edu and his team.
