Two days after the shock of the third day of the Saudi Pro League between Al Nassr and Al Ahli, bad news has arrived for Cristiano Ronaldo. In impressive form for a few days, the 39-year-old striker will miss the start of the Asian Champions League due to a virus contracted.....CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

This is bad news that Al Nassr has just revealed. As the club prepares to play the first day of the Asian Champions League with a trip to Iraq this Monday, Luis Castro will have to do without his formidable center forward.

Coming out of a very complicated match against Al Ahli in the championship, Cristiano Ronaldo will make a stoppage due to illness. According to an official statement from the Nasrawi club this Sunday,

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has contracted an undisclosed viral infection.

”Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo was unwell today and has been diagnosed with a viral infection. The medical staff have confirmed that he needs to rest and will remain at home. He will therefore not travel with the team to Iraq. We wish him a speedy recovery.“, the club announced in a statement on X.

This is very bad news for the player who is in a crazy race to win prestigious trophies, including the Asian Champions League, and above all to pursue his dream of reaching the 1000 goal mark before hanging up his boots.

If the news is not good for the player, it is much more terrible for the club which is struggling at the start of the season to make a difference. In the Champions League last year, it was CR7 who was the detonator leading Al Nassr to the quarter-finals with a penalty shootout loss to the future champion Al-Ain (United Arab Emirates) at the start of the year.

With Sadio Mane and Anderson Talisca in less good form, Luis Castro will have to find a way to make his team shine against Al-Shota in Iraq this Monday. Note that Cristiano Ronaldo could make his return to the Saudi championship against Al-Ettifaq next Friday.

Renamed the Champions League Elite, the Asian Champions League will therefore begin this Monday with a new format that separates the 24 teams into two groups of 12, in the East and West zones, without the king of the European Champions League.
