According to preliminary reports from the KwaZulu-Natal police the shooting occurred shortly after 10 PM. The young woman had just left her boyfriend home and was walking alone when an unknown assailant approached her. Witnesses in the vicinity reported hearing multiple gunshots before discovering the woman lifeless body on the roadside.
Emergency services were immediately alerted, and paramedics arrived swiftly at the scene. Despite their best efforts to revive her, the woman was declared dead on the spot. The area was subsequently cordoned off by police and a thorough investigation was launched to determine the motive behind the killing and identify the perpetrator.
Speaking to the media KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed the incident stating that a murder case has been opened. We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life. Our detectives are working tirelessly to gather evidence and bring the responsible party to justice. We urge anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist us in our investigation said Captain Gwala.
Residents of Flamingo Heights and the surrounding areas have been left reeling by the incident. Many described the victim as a vibrant and kind-hearted individual who was well-liked in the community. Friends and family members have expressed their devastation and called for swift justice.
Community leader Thandeka Mkhize spoke out about the rising crime rates in the area and called for increased police presence and community vigilance. This senseless act of violence has shaken us all. We cannot continue to live in fear. It is imperative that we work together with law enforcement to ensure our streets are safe for everyone, especially our women and children Mkhize stated.
Local organizations advocating for women’s safety have also voiced their concerns.
