The senator who has officially expressed interest in the office of senate president stated that he supported the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket so that a Christian, preferably him, who is also from the south-eastern part of Nigeria, will anchor the post in order to maintain a balance of power.
Orji Kalu, when asked if he would be comfortable with a Muslim senate president, said, “No, I only supported a Muslim-Muslim ticket because that was the only way APC could win the election, but I will not be comfortable with a Muslim senate president because it will not go well for the country.” This is a secular country, and to maintain that power, it must be shared equally.
“I will like the APC to zone it to me with my name, and it will be very good because the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, needs people with good intelligence and character to turn the country’s economy around.”
