Dr. Alex Otti, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for governor in Abia State, has refuted allegations that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and Mr. Peter Obi made a deal to back Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state ahead of the March 18 governorship election.
There was no such arrangement, Otti claimed on Friday’s episode of The Morning Show on Arise Television, adding that Obi is a man of honour.
Otti claimed that Obi would be in Abia to support him before the governorship vote.
I know for a fact that there was no such arrangement, and I know Peter Obi very well; I have known him in depth, and I know that he is an honourable man who would never enter into a fake deal.
“Let’s assume that there was such an arrangement with Okezie Ikpeazu without admitting it. Because you must first deliver yourself in order to deliver someone else, the question to ask is how well he carried out the agreement. In that election, he fell short. In his bid for the Senate, he finished third.
According to the results announced by INEC, Abaribe won, my candidate Chinedu came in second, and Okezie finished a distant third.
So how can he say that he delivered Peter Obi if he was unable to do so himself? The Labour Party and the Obidients in Abia State, which excludes the PDP, produced Mr. Peter Obi. So I’ll just say that it sounds like a man drowning and is crying out. Peter Obi will be in Abia and will campaign for us while carrying all of the burdens associated with his legal issues.
“Thus, no such agreement existed. He had hoped that the deal would stand. Let me question them: Given that Okezie Ikpeazu is a G5 member and supported their leader [Wike] in Rivers State, what happened to him? According to what I gather, the G5 backed the APC candidate [Bola Tinubu], therefore he cannot claim to have done otherwise. According to dailypost report.
