The students include two Form Three girls, a Form One girl who were heading to the nearby Kyoani Mixed Day Secondary School, around 6:20am.

The other three were primary school kids, a boy and a girl in Grade Three and a Grade Six girl, all belonging to the Kyoani primary – a day Public school.

The identities of the students have been established by local residents who were the first responders, with three of the victims belonging to one family.

According to an initial police report compiled by the Traffic Police Office in Mutomo, the six students were walking to school from their when a Toyota Probox car heading from Kibwezi veered off the road and hit them.

“The motor vehicle a Toyota Probox was being driven from Kibwezi direction heading to Kitui. Upon reaching Kyoani area, the driver knocked six pedestrians who were school going children walking along the road pavement heading the same direction,” reads the police report seen by NTV.

As a result all the children, five female juveniles and one male juveniles died on the spot.

Police have since apprehended the driver of the Probox who fled the scene and impounded the vehicle. He has been detained at Mutomo Police Station, as investigations were launched to establish what caused the accident….CLICK HERE FOR MORE ARTICLE>>>
