Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who was tipped for the position, congratulated Kindiki and thanked those who supported her. President William Ruto on Friday, October 18, 2024, nominated Kindiki to replace the impeached Rigathi Gachagua after IEBC cleared him as being qualified for the DP position. He has also been cleared by DCI, KRA, CRB, EACC, and HELB.
