Speaking during an interview on K24 , Embakasi North Member of Parliament James Gakuya disclosed that he spoke to a doctor at the Karen hospital who assured him that the former second in command was in stable condition and would hopefully resume his activities within 72 hours.

Gakuya noted that attempts to have a conversation with Gachagua proved futile after the medical team barred him from having a conversation with the ailing politician.

โ€œComing to the health concern of the former deputy president, let me say he is faring well and since this kind of situation arose, those experts at the health facility are the ones assuring us what the correct position is,โ€ MP Gakuya stated.

โ€œDoctor Gikonyo, the head of Karen Hospital, has assured us that after 72 hrs things will be back to normal and that we hope that after the period he will be back. It was not possible to have a one-on-one conversation with him because of his current situation, despite that, we have his assurance,โ€ he added.

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba who alsoย visited Gachagua at the Karen hospitalย revealed that the former DP was seriously ill when he was admitted.

Wamuchomba who was in the company of other politicians allied with the former deputy president claimed that they had minimal time to interact with Gachagua since the doctors were still attending to him.

โ€œThe deputy president is overwhelmed and I guess that is why he is here and that is why he is completely crashed. We did not have enough time to see him because when we came in, the doctors were at it,โ€ Wamuchomba stated.

โ€œWe have come here to support the family and support his workers, support staff, they are crushed by the situation but we pray that he will come out of it,โ€ she added.

The former deputy president was on Thursday noon admitted at the Karen Hospital after reportedly suffering from a chest problem. His condition was made public by Gachagua’s lead Counsel Paul Muite who informed the Senate plenary about the former DP’s absence.

“Apologies and regrets that the deputy president is not here and the inconveniences and delays caused to the speaker and the Senators. The position is that during that period we went to find out where he is, the sad reality is that the DP has been taken ill to the hospital,” noted Muite.

Following Gachagua’s illness, the former DP’s legal team pleaded with the Senate to adjourn the proceedings until a later date, however, the request was declined, paving the way for the impeachmentโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
