Speaking during the interview on Tuesday night, October 15, Kalonzo expressed his satisfaction with the invitation, noting that young people have urged politicians to put aside their egos.
“I know that some of our viewers are a bit concerned as to why a presidential candidate would find it opportune to come to the studios. This is what young Kenyans have been trying to tell us: to get rid of our egos.
“In developed democracies, those who are interested in elective office go out and meet the media. It is important. I’m happy I was invited,” Kalonzo remarked.
Responding to the impeachment proceedings against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the Wiper leader expressed his dissatisfaction with the process.
The former vice president recounted the June 25 anti-government protests, claiming that parliament was ‘impeached’ by the people and it was now handling a serious matter.
He argued that Parliament continued with the process of impeaching the deputy president without giving him a chance to respond.
โPeople will recall what happened on June 25 when Parliament was effectively impeached by the people. The same Parliament is now handling this serious matter. They moved ahead with the process before giving Gachagua a chance to respond,โ Kalonzo stated.
During the interview, the former Vice President was also questioned about his knowledge of the Indian firm Adani Group and allegations that it funded former Prime Minister Raila Odingaโs 2012 presidential campaign, where Kalonzo was his running mate.
The Wiper leader claimed that he had no knowledge about the firm and was not aware of the sources of funding for the campaign.
