The Senator made the allegations while appearing on Citizen TV โ€™s Day Break while responding to the recent declaration that Raila Odinga made supporting the proposed Private Public Partnership between the Adani Group and the government.

Maanzo revealed that Adani sponsored Raila’s campaigns during the past Presidential elections insisting that it was the reason the opposition leader defended the Adani Group in the wake of the protests by Kenyans.

”It was one of the companies sponsoring his campaigns so that he could become the president in 2012,” Maanzo stated.

He added that there has been a lot of money that the company gave some figures within the Kenyan political space to win the tenders.

โ€˜โ€™We are aware that a lot of bribes are being exchanged for these companies to get jobs here and that is it, there is nothing much that will come out. The bribes are in billions of shillings to some of these political leaders. I am talking about Raila Odinga and William Ruto,โ€™โ€™ Maanzo stated.

The lawmaker however declined to divulge more details on how the alleged transaction between Adani, Ruto and Raila transpired, maintaining that he did not want to delve into the amount of money that was used in the deal.

He further noted that he would only give the details on the floor of Parliament at the right time.ย Kenyans.co.keย could not independently verify Maanzo’s claims.

The Senator also alleged that there were brokers who participated in the deal that saw the Adani Group strike a deal with the two leaders to land partnership deals in the country.

โ€˜โ€™I do not want to give so many details right now. I will do it at the right forum in the house. There are bribes and there are brokers involved,โ€™โ€™ he added.

โ€˜โ€™That is why these companies have been given direct procurement, there are so many companies in the world that would have gotten a better deal.โ€™โ€™

Maanzo also implicated Energy CS Opiyo Wandayiโ€™s appointment to the Cabinet as part of the deal to cover up for the alleged agreement between the three parties. He added that that was the sole reason for Odinga to admit that he knew the Adani Group would deliver on the proposed partnership.

โ€˜โ€™They know how much they received and that is why Opiyo Wandayi is the Minister for Energy, it is very well choreographed. Adani is one of the Indian companies and you saw Raila admit that he knew the company from 2010 when he was the Prime Minister,โ€™โ€™

Odinga, in a press statement on Sunday, revealed that he was supporting the proposed Public Partnership deal the government and the Adani Group noting that it was the best way to develop Kenya and save citizens from over-taxation as the government grapples with the economic effectsโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>ย
