BREAKING: El-Rufai’s Wife Criticizes Her Son For His Remarks Against Tinubu’s Government

Hadiza El-Rufai, wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has openly hit out on her son, Bashir, over his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Bashir El-Rufai recently took to social media to defend former President Olusegun Obasanjo while criticizing the presidency’s response to Obasanjo’s remarks about the state of the nation.

Speaking at the Chinua Achebe Leadership Forum at Yale University, Obasanjo described Nigeria under Tinubu’s leadership as a “failing state.”

In its rebuttal, the presidency dismissed Obasanjo’s claims, arguing that he was not an ideal model of leadership. However, Bashir criticized the presidential media team, stating on his X (formerly Twitter) handle:

“Attacking Obasanjo with the state of the country now has to be a mental illness permeating the whole of the media comms team. Inflation is at 33%.”

Hadiza El-Rufai, in a surprising move, joined the conversation to question her son’s stance. Responding to his post, she asked:

“Are you sure you’d be saying this if your father were part of this government?”

Her comment sparked discussions online, with many weighing in on the exchange between mother and son.

Later, Hadiza clarified her statement, describing it as lighthearted banter in response to a tweet by The Cable newspaper, which had reported on the exchange.

This rare public disagreement between members of the El-Rufai family has attracted significant attention, highlighting the differing perspectives within political circles on the current administration.
