In his remarks today Sunday October 13, the Wiper boss claimed that this government was hell-bent on diverting the attention of Kenyans on impeachment matters when, in reality, its main aim is to seal deals with questionable Adani Group.
Mr. Kalonzo said, Adani business mogul has had a bad past reputation especially in South Africa where he cut dirty deals with the State raising so many unanswered questions on its bsiness integrity.
โUnder the cloud of the Impeachment drama, Kenya has been gutted by ADANI the way South Africa was State captured,โ he stated.
Kalonzo has termed the Adani-Kenya deal as a terrible State capture series where most key sectors โ Energy, Transport and health โ are being handed over to the Indian businessman at a throw away price for thirty years.
โKenya is facing an unprecedented threat of State capture where our key sectors โ Energy, Transport and Health โ have seen multi-billion deals being granted by the bread-based government to one ADANI in an opaque, non-competitive and secretive mannerโ.
The Azimio principal added that the handing over is being done despite the heavy protests from the Kenyan people who are supposed to have been given an opportunity to speak on whether they want it handed over or not.
Already, the government announced that Adani had signed with KETRACO a staggering sh 95 billion deal to run the struggling Energy sector to quell the perennial power blackouts.
Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi officially announced the signing of the multi-billion shilling deal between the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) and Adani Energy Solutions Limited.
CS Wandayi stated that the deal, which is estimated at sh.95.68 billion (USD 736 million), will see the Indian company develop, finance, construct, and operate critical transmission lines and substations across the country.
