Mason Mount has already arrived at the club’s Carrington training ground and is expected to become a Manchester United player in the coming days. Fans may see him make his debut for the club next week as the team begins their pre-season preparations.

While United is finalizing the deal for Mount, they are also actively working on other transfers. According to a report by Sportbible.com, the club has agreed to personal terms with Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat.

Amrabat, who gained attention from top clubs such as Barcelona, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and sides in Saudi Arabia following his impressive performances in the 2022 World Cup, has caught the eye of Manchester United. Italian outlet La Nazione, via Sport Witness, has reported that the Red Devils have reached an “economic agreement” with the 26-year-old midfielder.

Fiorentina, who reached the Europa Conference League final in the 2022/23 season, is said to demand at least €30 million (£26 million) for Amrabat’s services. His contract with Fiorentina is set to expire in 2024.

If the transfer goes through, Amrabat would be a significant addition to Manchester United’s squad. The club is reportedly willing to double his current weekly salary of €37,000 to secure his services.

Amrabat previously attracted interest from Barcelona in January, but a deal failed to materialize. However, it seems likely that he will be leaving Fiorentina this summer. His previous connection with Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, could play a crucial role in the potential transfer. Amrabat played under ten Hag at FC Utrecht between 2015 and 2017.

Primarily operating as a defensive midfielder, Amrabat would provide valuable cover for Casemiro and strengthen Manchester United’s midfield. Casemiro’s absence due to suspension during the previous season highlighted his importance to the team.

Last month, Amrabat’s brother, Nordin, gave a hint about a potential move to Manchester United in an interview with ESPN. He stated that Sofyan has the intention to play in the top leagues, preferably in Spain or England.

Manchester United’s focus in the transfer market is currently on securing a striker. Once that is done, the club will assess further possibilities. However, it is known that Erik ten Hag holds a favorable opinion of Sofyan Amrabat, given their successful history together during their time at FC Utrecht.
