Funke Akindele ran alongside Abdul-Azeez Adediran popularly called Jandor, but they were defeated by the incumbent governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Funke Akindele took to her instagram page to say that she had an amazing and insightful experience contesting for office, as it has been a learning curve for her. According to her, she was able to learn and unlearn something’s and she doesn’t regret taking the bold step to run for office.
