Chelsea took the lead twice through Joao Felix and Kai Havertz, but they were pegged back by Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ellis Simms, who scored his first Everton goal with a superb solo effort in the 89th minute.

The result left Chelsea 10th in the standings, while Everton moved two points clear of the relegation zone.

Chelsea have shown glimpses of brilliance under Potter, but they have also been inconsistent and unpredictable.
