During a press briefing at his Karen residence on Monday, October 7, Gachagua said he feels that Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza government no longer need him, as he has already fulfilled his role.

“A decision has been made that Rigthi Gachagua is no longer useful to this administration,” Gachagua said. He appeared to suggest that President Ruto only needed him to challenge former President Uhuru Kenyatta and secure power.

Gachagua implied that the intent might have been to replace him as deputy president now that he had fulfilled his perceived purpose.

“His work was to help fight Uhuru Kenyatta and get President Willam Ruto and thereafter he is of no use so he should be dispensed with and somebody else can be appointed. Again it is the will of he Kenyan people,” he added.

The deputy president said that there is significant interest in removing him from office to the point where his late brother, James Nderitu, has been dragged into the scheme.

Gachagua passionately defended his late brother against allegations that his wealth was acquired through corrupt means.

“How cruel can we be? How insensitive can we be? What is this power thing? That you even fight the dead, for you to get yourself in power and get rid of your perceived political enemies,” Gachagua said.
