Ghana did manage to get themselves back on level terms few minutes later. However, it didn’t take long for Portugal to restore their lead; this time through Felix.

Things got even better for Portugal in the 80th minute as Leao managed to beat Ghana goalkeeper with a sublime strike from close range. Ghana scored a brilliant goal in the closing minutes but it wasn’t enough to snatch a point for them.

One of the major talking points of the game was the decision of the referee to award a penalty to Portugal in the 64th minute. Questions were raised on why the referee decided to award a penalty to Cristiano Ronaldo for Salisu’s foul on him.

However, I guess the referee was right to award a penalty for Salisu’s foul on Ronaldo because the Ghananian defender clearly missed the ball. It would have been a different situation if Salisu had touched the ball before trampling on Cristiano Ronaldo’s right foot.
