Nandi MCAs Flee As Residents Storm The Assembly Demanding Governor Stephen Sang’s Impeachment

Members of the County Assembly are reported to have fled the chambers upon learning that furious crowd of residents were marching towards the Assembly.

The irritated residents marched and stormed the County Assembly demanding to engage the Speaker and make their voices heard.

However upon reaching the gate, security personnel intervened and informed them that they could not see the speaker as he was away.

‘’That is a lie, where has the speaker gone to,’’ one resident could be heard shouting in the middle of the confusion.

Before being forced to flee, MCAs had briefly been involved in altercationswithin the assembly chambers.

Videos seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed the MCAs going after each other before police officers at the assembly intervened to try to stop them.

Recently, the Nandi governor made headlines when he confirmed the firing of over 1,500 workers whom he stated were ghost workers.

Reports from the county suggested that the fired workers were sent home

informally by ‘word of mouth’ without being subjected to fair labour termination processes.

The County has been the subject of leadership wrangles as Senator Samson Cherargei and Governor Sang continue to be embroiled in squabbles over various matters at the devolved unit.

Cherargei revealed on Tuesday morning while appearing on Spice FM that he would consider taking legal action over the County Government in regards to the recent unfair dismissal of the over 1,500 workers.
