More so, this was confirmed in a statement released by the ASUU president, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke when he addressed the journalists in Abuja on November 15, 2021, based on the report released today by the CHANNEL TV.

Furthermore, the National Executive Committee meeting was attended by chairmen of the state chapters and national executive members at the ASUU National Secretariat in Abuja.

ASUU decided to suspend the strike during a meeting of its leadership that started on Thursday night and lasted into the early hours of Friday.

“While appreciating the commendable efforts of the leadership of the House of Representatives and other patriotic Nigerians who waded into the matter, NEC noted with regrets that the issues in dispute are yet to be satisfactorily addressed” but they needed to follow court order, the statement added.

Based on the report, state branches of the union met over the Court of Appeal ruling last week, following which members voted to conditionally suspend the strike.

“The Court of Appeal had issued an order to ASUU to suspend the strike before its appeal of the ruling ordering lecturers to resume work could be heard”, according to the report.
