The research findings show that 41% of Kenyans support the impeachment motion, compared to 38% who oppose it. However, the study shows that mostย Mt Kenyaย residents strongly oppose the impeachment motion against Gachagua.

“Overall, Kenyans are quite divided over the current effort to remove Gachagua from office by impeachment, with only a slight plurality in support of it (41% vs 38%). However, a clear contrast is seen between residents of the Mt Kenya region and those of all other regions, with well over twice as many of the former opposed to it (69% vs 28%),” TIFA Research said.

The research shows that most residents of Mtย Kenyaย rate Gachagua’s performance as excellent, while only 27% of the rest of the country gives an excellent rating. Those opposed to Gachagua’s impeachment feel that the embattled deputy president is unfairly targeted.

“Opponents of the Deputy President’s impeachment believe he is being unfairly targeted, praise his leadership, or feel he and the President should finish their term without addressing the charges directly,” the researching findings show.

The primary reason for those supporting Gachagua’s impeachment is the perception that he exhibits a biased attitude and rhetoric favouring his own community from the Mt. Kenya regionโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
