“Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will hold a Press Conference at the Official Residence in Karen at 7pm, this evening, Monday, October 7, 2024. Those who need to set up should be at the residence by 5pm and the rest of the crew by 5.30pm,” the media invite read.

Although the agenda of the media brief was not disclosed, Gachagua is expected to use the occasion to address his looming impeachment. The deputy president is faced with an ouster on the grounds of dividing Kenyans into ethnic lines, undermining the presidency, violating the oath of office and contradicting the National Cohesion and Integration Act.

Gachagua is set to stand trial on Tuesday, October 8, when the motion will be debated after the public participation exercise ends. However, a section of Kenyans think the deputy president will use the press conference to announce his resignation from theย Kenya Kwanzaย government.

Others think Gachagua will use the presser to spill beans about his alleged fallout with President William Ruto.
