According to the French player who revealed that he’s decision was based on his playing position which he prefers to his former role at Sevilla. He however refused to join Chelsea because the position is fully occupied.

Speaking on La Liga Live on Optus Sport, Graham Hunter said that; “There was a lot of stuff bandied around in the Catalan media that Kounde has told Xavi that he doesn’t want to play right-back and that’s one of the reasons he moved to Barcelona and not Chelsea.”

Graham further explains that; “He plays where he is put, he’s paid a good salary. He has always explained that he finds it difficult at right-back, he considers himself a centre-half. If it is difficult for him, it didn’t really show today.

“There were moments, particularly when Barcelona were in a (back) three, he showed he wasn’t necessarily all that used to a line of three, but he was one of the ways in which they coped with the tide of pressure and then overturned it.
