M-Pesa Ratiba is a standing order service that allows customers to schedule bill and recurring transaction payments which occur automatically.

This fee is in addition to the normal transaction charges (send money, paybill, or Lipa na M-Pesa). “There will be a standard M-Pesa Ratiba charge of KSh 5 per transaction (send money, Paybill, Lipa na M-Pesa) above the normal M-Pesa transaction charges,” Safaricom responded to TUKO.co.ke

A service whose transaction fee is KSh 20 requires a customer using M-Pesa Ratiba to pay an additional KSh 5, increasing the charge to KSh 25.

Earlier, an M-Pesa customer raised concerns over fees charged by the new service, claiming they’re expensive. “M-Pesa Ratiba iko na transaction fee kubwa aje aiii (Why is the transaction fee for M-Pesa Ratiba so high?), wondered Simon Kakai in response to a Safaricom Facebook post.

In response, Safaricom shared the M-Pesa Ratiba service terms, saying they attract the charges that the customer pays. “Standard and existing Paybill, Buy goods and Send money services charges shall apply for transactions completed pursuant to the M-Pesa Ratiba Service,” read the terms in part.

Meanwhile, an M-Pesa customer raised concerns after she was robbed and her money sent to unknown numbers, and Safaricom failed to issue a detailed statement.

The telco noted thatย M-Pesa statements do not disclose all transaction detailsย in adherence to data privacy regulationsโ€ฆCLICK HERE TO READ MORE ARTICLES>>>
