After visiting Frenkie de Jong’s club, United’s chief executive officer Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough informed Barcelona that they would like to recruit the Dutchman by Friday.

De Jong joined Barcelona in 2019, and the Dutch player swiftly became a fixture for the Spanish team.

The Dutch international was under Erik ten Hag’s management when he moved from Ajax to Barcelona.

Manchester United and Barcelona have reportedly verbally agreed on a cost for De Jong, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook. The Premier League team hopes to close a deal by the weekend, as evidenced by the tweet that follows.

After losing Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba this summer, Ten Hag would have given a midfielder top priority.

Ten Hag worked with De Jong at Ajax and is familiar with his skills and what he can offer Manchester United. De Jong should easily adapt to the manager’s demands and be completely aware of them.

Manchester United’s remaining midfielders performed poorly even after losing Pogba and Matic last season, so signing De Jong might be their finest summer acquisition.

Tyrell Malacia, a Feyenoord player, was acquired by United so far this summer for almost £13 million. Christian Eriksen is anticipated to join the team, although nothing is official.

Additionally, United has been attempting to sign Ajax’s Lisandro Martnez, but there is still work to be done.

Erik ten Hag will take charge of his first game for the club against Liverpool at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, before traveling to Australia for three more games, regardless of what happens in the chase of De Jong this summer.
